Notify people more than a couple of hours before performing maintenance and shutting every out

I think it's extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate for a company to provide little to no communication before performing maintenance and forcing everyone off their web-based tool. Especially when that tool was recently moved from local application to web based.

I worked in IT for over 10 years and in emergency situations there was always at least a 8-10 hour notice to users (planned maintenance was even further out) which involved multiple forms of communication (i.e. posted on the web-site as well as email communication). When you pull the rug out from under people who depend on your tool they lose faith and trust in your company.

I only ask that you communicate planned maintenance better and with more advance notice. Heck, even if you had given 4 hours notice and sent an email as well adding a note to your website that would have been better than what was experienced.

Our firm did not even see a notice until 5 minutes before the maintenance started. We were actively working in Forte and were planning to continue working until we were booted and lost the work we had been performing.

    Admin response

This was an unfortunate mistake on our part. We placed a maintenance note on the login page for this coming Monday night, but we didn't properly set the internal time to close off access to the ForteWEB application. No maintenance occurred during the event this morning. We appologize for any inconvenience this caused and will do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Thank you for the prompt follow-up and explanation. It's good to know this was just a little hiccup and not standard operating procedure.

It's been great to see ForteWEB continue to get better and better. Thanks for your efforts!
