This idea proposes giving specifiers and plan checkers the ability to generate their own Trus Joist product span charts, based on project-specific loads, and client preferences for floor performance (TJ-Pro Rating).
Speed and accuracy are really important to specifiers.
ForteWEB can only check out one span at a time.
Our span charts are confined to one or maybe two types of loads, and usually only feature TJIs.
Some specifiers have taken to creating their own custom charts that quickly enable them to land on the "most efficient" joist and spacing (see below). Trouble is: these charts may not reflect a decent floor performance or the right loads.
Let's use Forte to create two kinds of custom charts (both with customized loads, and TJ-Pro Rating):
The "traditional format" (See above) - including continuous spans as Val deNoia suggests.
Plus a "Quick chart" that lists the most efficient joist and spacing for a given span, load, and TJ-Pro Rating.
