Now that Microllam has code approval for wall memebers, I've had an increase in requests to design in ForteWeb. In the southeast 2x8 TimberStand is only stocked 20' lengths. Taller walls have few options and Microllam is a good fit for strength and availablity. We are at a disadvange to competitors that offer LVL studs.
I understand that TimberStrand is perfered, but lumber is already included in ForteWeb wall design. Seems odd that Microllam would not be also an option.
Current stance is that Microllam can be substituted for LSL with EOR approval. For tall walls designed by WY spec with LSL (no EOR), I expect we will be asked to convert to Microllam in some cases. Would be helpful to have software to provide verification. https://weyerhaeuser.sharepoint.com/sites/wpeng/pets/Technical%20Bulletins/100-149%20General/TB-129%20(SharePoint%20Only).pdf
I agree, it would be nice to be able to 'close the loop' for our LVL products used as wall studs.
