A lot of the older residences that we work on use true sized dimensional lumber such as an old growth 2x8 is actually 2" by 8". When checking if the spans would be sufficient, we typically would select an SPF 2x8 to be conservative but it would be great to have an option for custom sizing and put in our own specie properties from the NDS.

Seconded. This is one of the many limitations that are not necessary in the software. I do understand why they do this, as some factors are size-specific (size factor, for example), but then those factors just do not apply for unique-sized members. A little flag should be applied to the repot stating that a non-standard member size was used and which factors are ignored or affected.
