There are cases where we need to check multiple conditions on a member, like a cantilevered beam where there's 3 conditions for different live load situations.
or, we're designing similar loaded beams with similar spans and want to find the controlling case in that bunch. Instead of having to manually compare each one, it would be nice see them in grouped section that tells us which one is best.
