I was imagining something like an option box to apply Flat Use Factors from the NDS but I was not aware of the "plank" option which I imagine does use those factors so this was more of a user oversight.
Thanks for your idea. To clarify, are you asking to be able to design flush and dropped beams in flatwise (plank) orientation? Or are you looking for additional design options for wall header members?

I am looking for the option too. a flat wise conventional member or LVL would be great. Just dropped would make sense. no need for flush.

The header beam entry allows for plank design, however must be 2 ply ( I have not checked on custom lumber sizing ability. )
