Browser related logout issues have been addressed in the current release of ForteWEB. We will be investigating alternatives around customizing or eliminating session time out for a future release.
Thanks for your response Ian, that is good news. I think the file locking is not as big as an issue as getting logged out every 30 minutes, but I suppose the two are related.
Even with the normal behavior where one does not get logged out due to "sleeping" tabs, the session time is still too short, and still requires one to log in multiple times a day.
Thanks Timothy for letting us know about the original idea 63 to merge this with. Actually, this idea is likely a result of the recent issue that has come up with browser tabs going to sleep (to save resources). We have a fix for this issue that will release in the upcoming ForteWEB deployment that is planned for next week. For Idea 63, we are actually looking into ways to get rid of file locking and possibly even timeout sessions in the near future. I hope to have something in place this year.
This has been driving me mental lately! Auto logged out and then the file you were working on is locked for a while. Need a solution to this or I will have to use different software.
Agreed. This should not happen on a private computer. People use this software 8-10 hours a day, and should not have to log in multiple times per day on a private computer.
I had to log in at least 5 times today, it doesn't seem like this has gotten any better.

I have it set up so that my password and username are automatically input, so this is hardly an issue anymore for me.

@Christen Vigil, this "idea" should be merged into https://ideas.forteweb.com/ideas/FORTE-I-63

Agreed with this comment. I am an engineer, and getting both logged AND locked out momentarily is frustrating (mostly the locking part).

Thanks Christen, that is good to hear - more flexible session options will greatly improve the ease-of-access for daily users.
