There are many conditions where the project calls for large sawn beams instead of an engineered beam. 8x beams are common at exposed conditions, and occasionally a 6x16 sawn is preferred over a 6x12 glulam. This is long overdue and would be VERY easy to implement...
We will review the current offering of dimensional solid sawn lumber and glulam and add additional depths and widths to include common sizes. We will likely provide incremental additions over multiple deployments.
Add 3x lumber for exposed fire resistive materials
Please also add treated commodity lumber options for exposed conditions such as outdoor decks.
Why arbitrarily add any limitations? Have one massive database of all member sizes, just scour the NDS supplement, and there you go. The software can suddenly, and without warning, design anything.
Also, add deep depth options for glulams. Why limit depths to 24"?
